Where do you live at?

There are poker rooms in New York like in Niagara, Salamenca, and Syracuse ares (Turningstone).

There are also Canadian options….Niagara Falls and Windsor.

Erie, PA will have a poker room very soon in their new casino.

Caesars, Indiana has a poker room that hosts a WSOP Satellite every year….I played in it this past year.

I played in a poker room just outside of Jacskonville, FL but they only had LIMIT Hold’em and no limit tourneys. While I was in Jacksonville, I also took one of those cruise boats that went out on the ocean and then let you play and gamble out on the sea……a couple leave from the Jacksonville Beach area.

Hmmm….Los Angeles has a casino, The Bike, I believe……There are Indian casinos in Washington state.

You also have Atlantic City which has a HUGE poker scene…..and Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun up in Connecticut.

Tunica, Mississippi and a couple places in Louisiana, like Lake charles and Baton Rouge have casinos, that should have poker rooms. I know Tunica does for sure.

This should give you some ideas. It really all depends on where you live and how far you are willing to travel.

The Southern US is the worst place to be for gambling and poker, very few places to play. Vegas and the East - Atlantic City, New York, Connecticut, etc - are hotbeds.

Niagara and Windsor are also fun places to play…..both places have a nice little poker scene with some local pros in the area because there are alot of options between Seneca Niagara on the US side and FallsView, Casion Niagara and others on the Canadian side.

Any card room in Vegas is going to have the basic games like 2-4 limit, 4-8 limit, and a 1-2 no limit game. The buy-in for these ranges from 20 dollars for the 2-4 game, and 100 dollars for the 1-2 no limit game, the no limit game has a cap of 200 in most places, and in there 2-5 no limit games the cap is most times 500. Just go to the front desk and ask what games they spread, most times they will have a list of what they have, along with a waiting list. The mirage and the bellagio offer stud, Omaha and hold em. T.I offers game like pinneapple, triple draw, and double flop hold em. Some offer a full kill, and some game are half kills. good luck.

Anywhere in Vegas is nice. You can stay in downtown Vegas where it is a little more affordable and find many small tournaments at the Golden Nugget or Binion’s.
If you stay on the strip you can stay at Tropicana or at Monte Carlo. Both places are very nice, reasonably priced and are in the heart of the strip where many casinos have daily tournaments.

If you are looking for a different place to go, Atlantic City is always a good option. They are competing with Vegas for visitors so you can stay in nice hotels such as the Hilton or Bally’s at small prices. Borgata is the nicest casino in A.C. by far with many poker games and tourneys but it costs an arm and a leg to stay there.

And if you want the most games with the most variety, you can always visit my home casino-Foxwoods in Connecticut. They have the biggest poker room in the world (118 tables) in the biggest casino in the world. They have daily tournaments and sit ‘n gos running around the clock.

The last time I was in Vegas, Planet Hollywood had set up some really good tournaments. 50 dollar and 10 dollar add on gets you 4000 total chips.

Ceasers Palace also has some good tournaments.

If this is your first time in Vegas though I recommend staying right on the strip. Although you are going to play poker, there are going to be a lot of other things you will be doing.

I have only been to Vegas twice and I have stayed at the Imperial Palace and Planet Hollywood.

Imperial is less expensive and if you don’t plan on staying in your room much, which you won’t either way it is not bad. The poker room is not really that great and neither are the tournaments.

Planet Hollywood, I went when they were still finishing construction on the outside and some of the hotel rooms have not been changed over, but they are very big and roomy.
The casino is nice but can get confusing because of the lack of signs(but that might have changed)

The poker room was nice, Michael Mizrachi (”The Grinder”), actually showed up to play chinese poker with some of his friends. Depending on the time of the day for the tournaments they usually have between 40 to 70 people in the tournaments. They are rebuy tournaments but no one was actually playing to loose.

Your best bet for various games would be the Orleans hotel in Las Vegas, which offers all different games and tournaments every week. If you are ok with just Hold-Em, the old strip is the place to stay. I recommend the Golden Nugget, but if that is too pricey Binions works too. Both the Golden Nugget and Binions run 3-4 tournaments each day. These tournaments are much better than many of the low buy-in tournaments on the strip. The low buy-in tournaments on the strip are set up to be total crapshoots, while Binions and the GN run great tournaments where you feel like you get to play some poker.
